Trane Technologies Raises 2026 Outlook as Record HVAC Backlog Reaches $12.1 Billion

Tue, August 25, 2026

Trane Technologies (NYSE: TT) has raised its full-year 2026 revenue and adjusted EPS guidance following its strong second-quarter performance, highlighted by record-breaking backlog and accelerating commercial HVAC orders.

Strong Q2 Momentum and Backlog Expansion

On July 30, 2026, Trane Technologies reported second-quarter results that exceeded prior-year levels, with organic bookings up 37% year-over-year, including a 50% surge in the Americas’ Commercial HVAC segment. The company achieved an enterprise-wide book-to-bill ratio of 123%, supported by bookings of approximately $7.8 billion. This backlog climbed to a record $12.1 billion, reflecting roughly a 70% increase year-over-year.

Reported revenues totaled $6.35 billion, representing 11% growth compared to Q2 2025, while organic revenue rose 9%. Adjusted continuing EPS came in at $4.31, up 11% from the prior year’s $3.88. GAAP EPS stood at $4.20.

These figures were released in the company’s official second-quarter earnings release, underscoring strong demand across its core HVAC and transport refrigeration portfolios.

Upgraded Full-Year Guidance Amid Operational Challenges

In response to the strong bookings and backlog visibility, Trane raised its 2026 outlook. Reported annual revenue growth is now expected to reach approximately 11.5%—up from a prior forecast of 9.5%—while organic revenue growth guidance increased to roughly 9%, from the previous estimate of 7%. Adjusted continuing EPS guidance was lifted to $15.20–$15.30, compared with the earlier range of $14.75–$14.95.

Despite the positive tone, the company warned of margin pressures including inflation, increased capital investments, and regional headwinds in EMEA. The Middle East conflict is anticipated to reduce second-half 2026 revenue by around $100 million and operating income by about $30 million, or roughly $0.10 per share.

Forward Visibility and Segment Dynamics

Management highlighted that approximately $6 billion of current backlog is scheduled for delivery in 2027 and beyond, demonstrating extended revenue visibility. During the Q2 earnings call, executives noted bookings from four individual orders each exceeding $100 million.

While commercial HVAC remains the primary growth driver—with strength spanning data centers, schools, offices, warehouses, and high-tech industrial applications—expectations for the Americas transport business signal a late-2026 recovery. At the same time, residential and service businesses continue contributing stable growth.

Significance and What to Watch

The markedly increased backlog and revised guidance suggest that Trane Technologies is well-positioned to deliver accelerated second-half growth, especially in its commercial HVAC segment. Investors will likely monitor how effectively the company navigates margin pressures and executes backlog conversion. The EMEA margin impact and the timing of transport refrigeration recovery are critical near-term factors.

Trane’s commitment to capacity expansion and sustainable innovation, supported by its strong free cash flow and balance sheet, offers a foundation for delivering long-term shareholder value.

Stock snapshot: The most recent authoritative price for TT before this rally was $452.96, reflecting a modest decline of 0.13% as of August 24, 2026. This movement occurred after the earnings-driven guidance update and likely reflects investor reassessment of profit margin risks and the path to backlog realization.
