Ross Stores Appoints Two New Directors Ahead of Fiscal Year End

Fri, September 25, 2026

Ross Stores (NASDAQ: ROST) has announced a significant governance update: Shelley H. Bransten and Christian B. Johnson will join the company’s Board of Directors effective October 1, 2026. Long-serving director Sharon D. Garrett will retire at that time. This follows the company’s announcement issued on September 17, 2026.

Bransten brings extensive technology and consumer industry experience to the board, currently serving as Corporate Vice President, Frontier Industry Advisory at Microsoft Frontier Company, with prior leadership roles at Microsoft, Salesforce and Gap. Johnson adds more than two decades of experience investing in consumer-facing businesses, and is a Partner at Freeman Spogli, with prior tenures at Wachovia Securities and Genzyme.

This leadership development arrives as Ross approaches the close of its fiscal year and builds on its strong second-quarter performance, where the company reported a 13% increase in sales to $6.26 billion and a 10% increase in comparable-store sales, driven largely by higher customer traffic. The company’s operating income rose correspondingly, supported in part by a significant tariff refund benefit.

These fresh board appointments suggest a strategic emphasis on enhancing technological capabilities and financial acumen at the governance level, aligning with Ross’s broader growth and execution strategy heading into fiscal year-end.

Investors may watch how Bransten’s tech and consumer insights and Johnson’s investment perspective influence Ross’s direction. The board changes signal an emphasis on innovation, financial oversight, and adaptation in an evolving retail environment.
