GoDaddy Expands Developer Platform with Commerce API to Programmatically Manage Stores

Sat, September 05, 2026

GoDaddy has extended its Developer Platform with a powerful new Commerce API, introduced on August 27, 2026. This enhancement offers developers programmatic control over key e‑commerce functions—from store and catalog management to order, customer, transaction and tax operations.

New Commerce API Unveiled

The Commerce API, announced last week, provides REST and GraphQL endpoints for:

  • Stores and sales channels (read access via commerce.store:read and commerce.channel:read)
  • Catalog management including SKUs and SKU groups (with commerce.product:read and commerce.product:write)
  • Order workflows from draft to completed or cancelled (using commerce.order:read, :create, :update, :complete, and :cancel)
  • Customer records—creation, reading and updating (via commerce.customer:read, :create, and :update)
  • Transactions visibility including authorizations, captures, sales, and refunds (via commerce.transaction:read)
  • Tax rate operations—create, update, delete, or read (using commerce.tax:read, :create, :write, and :delete)

Each endpoint is authenticated via a scoped Personal Access Token, and existing API capabilities remain unaffected, requiring no transition actions from current users.

Developer Workflow and Integration Impact

GoDaddy’s latest offering translates store creation and management workflows into automatable processes, which are particularly beneficial for sellers managing multiple storefronts, agencies, and platforms that rely on custom integration. As part of GoDaddy’s broader strategy to build an AI-native and developer-first ecosystem, the Commerce API aligns with the earlier domain lifecycle tools introduced via the Developer Platform.

Strategic Implications

This launch comes on the heels of GoDaddy’s July debut of its beta Developer Platform—an integrated toolset that includes domain search, registration, DNS management, scoped authentication, agent-safe safeguards, and a CLI interface. The Commerce API now expands that ecosystem into transactional commerce functionality.

Looking Ahead

With the Commerce API live, developers now have a unified, secure, and programmable path for managing both domain and commerce lifecycles. As GoDaddy continues evolving its Developer Platform, future enhancements may include deeper integration with AI agents, expanded commerce and payment workflows, and broader tooling support across its product portfolio.

Developers with an active GoDaddy account and commerce store can access these new endpoints immediately without changing existing integrations.
