Suspect Arrested in the Assassination of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson

The manhunt for the assassin of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson concluded with the arrest of Luigi Mangione, 26, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Mangione was apprehended after being recognized by a McDonald’s employee from surveillance images. He was found with $10,000 in cash, forged IDs, and a 3D-printed firearm allegedly used in the crime.

Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside a Manhattan hotel on December 4, 2024, in what authorities described as a targeted attack. Investigators discovered a handwritten manifesto with anti-corporate themes, suggesting Mangione acted alone and harbored grievances against corporate America.
